Laser Checkering & Modification

Available now out of our Naples, FL location, Cole Fine Guns & Gunsmithing is proud to now offer Laser Checkering and Laser modification! Whether it’s checkering a stock and forend set, engraving initials on your wood grip cap or something a bit more unique, our in-house design team can bring your ideas to life.

Our design team can laser checker standard patterns or something more unique, such as Fleur-De-Lis. We can work with existing graphics and logos, or we can help you design something unique and personalized to you.

THE PROCESS
To start the process, you will first call our Naples, FL location and consult with our designer on what your goals are. Afterwards, a digital proof of your design or checkering layout will be sent over to your for your approval or revision. Once your design is approved, it is tested numerous times to ensure quality and accuracy before final laser work begins.

The entire process, depending on complexity, can be completed in as little as 2 weeks from when we receive your items to personalize.

Once your gun or item has been modified, our team will reach back out to you to coordinate shipping of your item(s) to your nearest FFL, your home or we will call to let you know the work is done so you can come pick it up in one of our showrooms!

ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS

In addition to wood, our laser can etch or engrave most other materials aside from metals at this time. These materials include but are not limited to:

  • Acrylic
  • Delrin
  • Glass
  • Leather
  • Most Plastics (No ABS or PVC)

*Anodized or plated metals can be etched to some degree, With anodized materials specifically, the laser will bleach the coloring out but will still leave the protective anodized layer intact.

Laser Modification

Our checkering patterns are traditional pointed diamonds offered in a variety of LPI (Lines Per Inch) depending on your preference. Lower LPI results in a more coarse feel, while a higher LPI will result in a smoother and more subdued surface.

Laser Monogramming Etiquette

Monogramming etiquette typically has two or three initials in line with either all the letters being the same size, or with a larger middle letter. Or we can completely customize how you would like your monogramming to appear.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can you laser a wraparound pattern on a stock or forend?
    • At this time, we can only perform two or three panel checkering patterns, no wraps.
  • Can you laser checker my rifle stock?
    • It will depend on the length of the stock in question, our laser table accommodates items no larger than 31″ in length
  • My stock has a large palm swell, can you laser checker it?
    • If the difference between the highest and lowest points of the lasered area is within 5mm, yes. If the height difference is outside of 5mm, the laser will not be able to maintain focus and provide a clean and consistent pattern
